Dear President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush:

I believe it is important to ask you certain questions of historical import regarding the presidency of your son, George W. Bush, and to also satisfy my own curiosity.

Please allow me to preface my questions and remarks with this statement: Mr. President, you lost reelection in 1992 because you broke your pledge, "Read my lips. No new taxes." At the time, and still now, I think it was one of the most selfless acts I've ever seen by an elected official. You deliberately sacrificed your political career to do what you knew had to be done for America and raised taxes. For that, Sir, you will always have my respect and gratitude for having integrity that is now completely lacking in the Republican Party, generally, and George W. Bush's administration, specifically;

So I must ask: Are you proud your son orders the kidnapping and torture of people?

WHY DEMOCRATS DON'T (AND CAN'T) WIN ELECTIONS

Why does the Democratic Party keep losing elections when they are on them right side of every issue that the public identifies with in the endless polls taken?

They have become, for the most part, craven cowards seemingly without the courage or principles or the conviction to fight for what is right. The minute Harry Reid invoked the rule to bring the Seenot to a screeching halt until we got answers on the intelligence about Iraq, and then caved utterly and broke his promise, the image of gutless, unprincipled Democrats was again reaffirmed and reinforced the belief that we are bumbling cowards, with no more integrity than Republicans. And if we are viewed to be the same as the sycophantic, morally corrupt, and morally bankrupt Republicans, take a wild guess which party is going to get its ass kicked again in 2006 and 2008.

I don't know about the rest of the "progressive Democrat" world, but I for one am sick and tired of losing these "FIXED" elections to the Rethuglicans. I believe it is a given that wherever electronic voting machines (Diebold especially) are used that the votes are being manipulated to insure Rethuglican victories. It is furthermore clear that these machines ARE going to be used in many states despite their proven flaws - witness California's move to reinstate the machine before their proper testing was concluded. I have made a similar post on Bradblog with the hopes of inspiring affirmative action by the electorate to make SURE every vote is counted.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO DEFEAT THIS TACTIC: ABSENTEE BALLOTS!
